Newcastle's weather has certainly been putting on a bit of a show recently, reminding us all that being prepared might be a rather good idea, just in case. If you're involved with a community group or organisation, either as staff or a volunteer, and you've been wondering how to get your own household sorted for the next curveball Mother Nature throws our way, or how to help those you support, then listen up.
Carers NSW and the City of Newcastle Council are putting on a few free workshops for exactly that. These sessions will gently guide you through the ins and outs of household emergency readiness planning. You'll also get to mull over how to tailor those plans for everyone's unique needs – because one size rarely fits all, especially when the unexpected happens. And it's not just about getting ready for the emergency itself, but also how you might spontaneously jump in to help during the aftermath. The next one is scheduled for Tuesday 29 July 2025 at the Fort Scratchley Function Centre. You'll need to make sure you nab yourself a spot beforehand if you're keen to attend.
