Global Ecosystem Monitoring Network run Educational Camps where kids can get active at local beaches, lakes and mangroves, meet new friends, and expand their awareness of ecosystem monitoring and the role technology plays to keep the environment safe for everyone!
Read on to learn more about the GEMN Educational Camps on offer these School Holidays!
Designed for kids ages 7 years and over, GEMN Camps start in January 2021 on the Central Coast NSW and are run by qualified environmental scientists with vocational teaching qualifications. All field trip transport, lunch, afternoon snacks, as well as beverages are provided.
Developing Technology for Ecosystem Monitoring
When: 4 January, 2021 - 8 January, 2021
Where: Central Coast, NSW
Cost: $750 / 5 days
More info: The focus of the
Developing Technology for Ecosystem Monitoring camp is to introduce the technology that is used for ecosystem monitoring and guide young learners through the experience of discovering how it works and how the development of new technologies happen.
The week long program will guide kids through age-specific content that looks at the different levels of technology used; from mobile tablet devices through to satellite GPS tags, real-time tracking and remote sensing technologies, and UAVs (Drones). Kids will learn how to utilise existing technologies as well as extending their learning to develope new innovative technologies.

Monitoring Coastal Ecosystems
When: 11 January, 2021 - 15 January, 2021
Where: Central Coast, NSW
Cost: $750 / 5 days
More info: The focus of the
Monitoring Coastal Ecosystems camp is to introduce and extend the knowledge and experience young learners in techniques for monitoring ecosystems. Included in these camps are both indoor and outdoor activities (weather dependent), which are designed specifically for each age bracket with rotating content; meaning that if you come one year and are still in the same age bracket the following year, the content will be different.
All kids will be encouraged to explore and learn about the different ecosystems they are shown and will learn about how and why monitoring programs happen around the world. The order that the ecosystems are visited by each age group will be weather and numbers dependent. Content is specifically designed to be age specific and will be tailored to the knowledge level of the group

Due to COVID 19, Global Ecosystem Monitoring Network will be offering a 100% refund if their camps can't go ahead due to government safety requirements. All camps are delivered by qualified staff who have gone through COVID 19 awareness training and child protection screening.
