Head to Newcastle Racecourse on Darling Street in Broadmeadow on 6 March 2026 for the Newcastle Stakes, which this year ties in with International Womens Day and its Give to Gain theme. You can watch the horses thunder around in the $250,000 Horsepower Newcastle Stakes and other races warming up for the Sydney Autumn Carnival, all while soaking up an afternoon that mixes trackside thrills with a bit of purpose. Grab tickets from $20 to $250, and if you fancy, rock up in the official purple, green, and white colours, because why not add some symbolic flair to your racing outfit.

Theyve got an International Womens Day luncheon in the Trackside Marquee with food, wine, chats, and networking, plus a keynote from music legend Marcia Hines who will also belt out a few tunes with her killer vocals. Expect a yarn from Natalia Hogan too, who went from tough times as a Samaritans youth client to smashing a 177km ultra-marathon for homeless kids awareness. Its raising funds for Samaritans to help local youth at risk. On site theres a bar, cafe, carpark, public toilets, and restaurant, and they actively welcome folks with access needs.
