This World Suicide Prevention Day, Wednesday 10 September 2025, Lifeline Out Of The Shadows walk is on in Newcastle. You can walk 9 km at a time and place that suits you to mark the roughly nine lives lost to suicide each day in Australia, or join the Newcastle community walk from Dixon Park Beach to Merewether Baths and back. Short formalities start from 6 am with the walk to follow. The community route is an accessible 1.6 km on a pathed surface suitable for wheelchairs and prams. Dogs are welcome on leash and you are welcome to keep going if you want to make up your own distance.

Any money raised will go directly to suicide prevention services in the Hunter Region. If you want to take part or check the details, register at bit.ly/oots2025-hunter. Bring sensible shoes and a warm cuppa for afterwards if that helps.
