Fort Scratchley Historical Society is holding a special gun firing event on Monday of the October long weekend, 6 October 2025. Seven guns will be fired at 11am, 1pm and 3pm, a tidy little schedule of bangs for anyone who appreciates punctual thunder.

Also on the day are the Australian Armed Forces Reenactment Heritage Unit, Morse code demonstrations, military vehicles on display and all exhibition rooms open. A coffee cart and hot food will be on site for anyone wanting something warm between firings. Entry to the fort grounds is free, children enter free, and paid tunnel tours will be reduced to 30 minutes.
