Australian pianist and storyteller Aura Go has been teaming up with Finnish Aussie cellist Timo Veikko Valve, better known as Tipi, for years on stages around the world. Shes also clocked plenty of road time with violin hotshot Kristian Winther. Now Musica Viva Australia has wrangled the three of them into one outfit for this Newcastle gig.

At the heart of things are Beethovens Piano Trio in D, the Ghost, which lives up to its eerie name, and Ravels Piano Trio, all thunder and fury like a chamber music squall. They round it out with a luminous snippet from Lili Boulanger, dashed off as World War I loomed large, and a world premiere by Australian composer Melody Etvs, penned especially for this local supergroup.
