ArchipelaGO is on in Newcastle on June 19 2026, and it's basically an art show where four female artists each get to be their own little island of weirdness. Vanessa Turton, Aksara Harriram, Jen Denzin, and Fran Johnston have all made separate bodies of work that feel like personal islands shaped by their own histories and experiences and unique visual languages. But put them together and you get a whole archipelago of bright colours and immersive worlds, all drifting between individuality and connection. It's about identity being both separate and shared, like your weird cousin at a family barbecue who somehow makes sense only when everyone else is there too.
As for the facilities, there's a carpark so you don't have to walk too far, and it's family friendly in case your kids want to stare at art and pretend they understand it. It's also pet friendly, but you should probably ask first because some of the colours might be too exciting for your dog. There are public toilets, and they actively welcome people with access needs, which is nice because nobody wants to struggle to see art while holding it in.
