If you happen to be moseying around the UK between 11 July and 9 August 2025, Kirkby-in-Ashfield Library is putting on a bite-sized version of ''. It's completely free, and you can wander through it any time of day, so no excuses for missing out. This particular display is a little preview of a bigger show kicking off at the British Library in London, and it's popping up in various Living Knowledge Network libraries across the UK, thanks to folks like Inspire.
Now, you might think gardening is just for people who talk to their petunias, but this exhibition reckons it's way more than just a national pastime. It cleverly weaves together personal yarns with grand global histories, celebrating gardening as a surprising force for creativity, resilience, and making connections. You'll discover stories about everyday legends who've literally battled for a patch of green, alongside the surprising journeys of plants we munch on or use as medicine. Turns out, our collective dirt-digging obsession has had a pretty big hand in shaping our lives, our communities, and even the planet itself.
