That Nottingham Beach thing is back on the cards, apparently. It's set to run from mid July right through to the end of August 2025, taking over Old Market Square. Think of it as a seaside escape that requires zero actual ocean, just a generous helping of real golden sand and probably a few bewildered pigeons. They're promising a laid back atmosphere with a sandy lounging area and a spot for paddling, which is always a treat in a city centre. Beyond the fake beach vibes, there will be the usual funfair rides, from the little kiddy ones to something called a Starflyer, which sounds like it involves being flung quite high. You can also expect the standard array of beachside snacks and drinks, plus family friendly activities like competitive sandcastle building and trampolines.
And if you thought that was the extent of it, there's a full roster of entertainment planned for the entire duration. Mondays are designated movie nights, where you can grab a deckchair and watch a flick under the evening sky. Tuesdays bring high energy Salsa sessions with Todo Latino, perfect if you fancy a boogie in public. Wednesdays are all about beach volleyball tournaments, offering a chance to either join the fray or just watch others get sand everywhere. Plus, there will be a steady rotation of DJs, bands and various entertainers taking to the stage throughout the week, so there will always be something happening. Entry to the beach itself is free, but be advised, the rides and other attractions do require tickets. It's usually open from 10 am until 11 pm most days, with Sundays wrapping up an hour earlier. For the complete schedule of goings on, best check their website.
