, meaning "To sit, listen and know", is back for its fifth go around at King Edward Park in Newcastle, courtesy of the University of Newcastle inviting the locals along. This free shindig, propped up by Awabakal Ltd, Port Waratah Coal Services, the City of Newcastle and NGM Group, turns the park into a buzzing meet-up on Awabakal/Worimi Country. Expect truth-telling sessions, performances, dance and song that give a respectful tip of the hat to the history and the tough-as-nails resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, while pondering what life was like in Mooloobinba/Newcastle before 1788 rolled in.

On 25 January 2026, head to The Terrace, The Hill, 2300, to park yourself, listen up and mull over the cultures, stories and knowledges that have been calling the shots around here for tens of thousands of years. It actively welcomes folks with access needs, no fuss.
