When Friday night finally rolls around and your brain feels a bit like a deflated footy, a dose of live laughter could be just the ticket. Over at the Newcastle Comedy Club on Darby Street, they usually have the mics warmed up for a steady stream of stand up. It is a regular setup designed to help you shake off the week's woes.

You can expect to see a rotating cast of about five or six different comedians on stage. There is often a mix of Newcastle's own comedic talents, alongside folks who have travelled from Sydney, other states or even further afield to share their jokes. This usually means there is something to tickle most funny bones, whether you are into observational humour or something a bit more offbeat. You might even stumble upon the next big thing in Australian comedy before they are all over your telly. Just a friendly reminder, it is strictly an 18 plus event, so best leave the little tackers at home.
