August's French Friday screens Bolero, the biographical film about Maurice Ravel. It is Paris 1928 and the Russian choreographer Ida Rubenstein asks Ravel to write the music for her new ballet. Ravel is already well known and established, but crippled by self doubt and melancholy, unable to summon a note. By sifting through memories, past loves and failures he eventually births the piece that will haunt concert halls everywhere, Bolero.

A little French Market will be set up in the foyer from 6pm with patisseries and handmade crafts, and the film begins at 7pm. The dialogue is in French with English subtitles.
