Get ready for the , a wild nature adventure that dives deep into the annual Humpback Whale migration. From June to November, these majestic creatures, also known as Megaptera Novaeangliae, trade their icy Antarctic digs for some sun and fun in warmer waters up north. With a whopping 35,000 whales swimming past our coastline every year, it's like they're hosting the longest underwater parade known to humankind. Adult Humpbacks can stretch between 14 and 18 metres—think of a bus but with a serious aquatic flair—and they can tip the scales at a staggering 50 tonnes. And let's not forget their newborns, which come out at a cool 2 tonnes. That's one hefty baby, and we're not talking about your cousin's kid after a big family barbecue.
But don't let the "whale watching" label fool you; this isn't just about spotting these large sea creatures cruising around. The also takes you along the stunning Newcastle coastline, where you might spot some playful dolphins or even the odd New Zealand fur seal deciding it's time to show off. At CoastXP, we aim to make your day unforgettable, giving you a front-row seat to watch these fascinating marine mammals in the wild while soaking in the beautiful scenery. So, grab your hat and sunscreen and prepare for an unforgettable day.
