Broxtowe Summer Play Days are happening across various spots in late July and early August 2025, perfect if you are looking for a free outing to wear out the little ones. It is an annual shindig celebrating National Play Day, this time around with the rather noble theme of "Space for Play", which essentially means making sure kids have accessible, inclusive places to just be kids and connect. You can expect a smorgasbord of activities that sound like they were pulled straight from a child's wildest dream list: think free face painting, magic shows that defy logic, bubble shows that float on by, circus skills for aspiring performers, and even some cool science bits if you fancy a bit of brain exercise. Plus, there are KMX go karts for the speed demons, donkeys for a bit of a pat, and enough inflatables and fairground rides to keep everyone giggling. And for the really tiny tots, there are dedicated zones so no one misses out on the fun.

If all that playing makes you peckish, do not fret. There will be food stalls dishing out sweet treats and ice cream, because what is a summer day without a bit of a sugar hit. While there is usually some free parking available, the organisers are giving a polite nudge towards walking, cycling, or jumping on public transport, which sounds like a sensible plan to avoid any car park kerfuffles.
