Fancy a night of watching other people risk life and limb in the mountains from the safety of a seat in Newcastle. The Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour rolls into town on 13 May 2026, courtesy of World Expeditions. Its a three-hour lineup of short films featuring trail runners, mountain bikers, skiers, paddlers and climbers who clearly have more sense than the average punter, all pulled from the big Banff bash in Canada. They sift through over 300 films on sports, culture and wild places to pick the award winners and crowd pleasers for this global jaunt hitting spots in 35 countries.

The Aussie version brings footage from the planets remotest corners, with stunning shots, yarns that make you think and action that might have you gripping your chair. Its an Adventure Reels gig, the original mountain movie fest. On site theres a bar, cafe and carpark, plus theyre good with accessibility for folks who need it. More info on the website.
